Basically, I've decided to get a new computer - though it would be easier just to upgrade the parts on this computer, and also money well spent, but I'm passing this down to my mother. ;D First off, I'm going to need help choosing out my computer as I'm not totally savvy with computer parts. My requirements are basically pre-built computers or I can custom build them.

I just want to know what you guys would suggest here. I'm also wondering if you guys know any stores that seem to have sites that allow me to look for pre-built computers [or one that allows me to configure them].

So far, I've found Costco, Bestbuy and Circuit City to name a few here where I live. I've been searching around the Costco site and ended up with a HP page that allows me to configure some of the parts on the computer -

Operating System: Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor Q9450 (2.66GHz)
Memory: 3GB DDR2-800MHz dual channel SDRAM (2x1024,2x512)
Hard Drive: 750GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
Video Card: 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT, 2 DVI, HDMI adapter
Sound Card: None (Integrated 7.1 channel sound w/ front audio ports)
Front Productivity Ports: 15-in-1 memory card reader, 2 USB, 1394, audio
Primary CD/DVD Drive: LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
This lands an amazing amount of - $1,462.99. Tax not included.

Thoughts: As for the operating system, I wouldn't buy a 64-bit as my current system is a 64-bit and I have a few problems here and there. As for the memory, why it's not 4GB is because I must upgrade to 64-bit for 4GB, and it doesn't really matter that much, now does it? If I even bought 4GB of memory, I'd probably be wasting 1GB of memory I cannot use. As for the sound card, I don't really need anything; it's not like I want to use maybe 60+ more dollars to buy an amazing sound card. The mother board, I don't really know for that system, Costco doesn't say. As for the cooling and heat sink, Costco doesn't say anything about that either. Anything else I'm missing, Costco doesn't say. =P Though, you could ask me for more information and I'll search for it.

To be honest, I'm not even sure if I should even consider the system above.

I've searched Bestbuy and Circuit city a bit, but I don't really want anything there. Unless anyone wants to suggest a system.

I'm also open to custom-built computers. I've been searching around part sites such as Newegg, and I'm thinking of bundling parts here and there; I just want to know other sites I can order / skim through computer parts to build it. Basically, I'm going to go through two sites and choose parts I might want; I also would appreciate suggestions on everything as well, picking off the issues with each things. Suggesting sites I can go through is good as well, I'll update it when I have it through. ;o

Basically everything else I'm missing: You tell me! No seriously, I'm too lazy to look through what I'm missing. <__<

Now, there are a few minor problems with custom built computers for me. One reason being; I DO NOT KNOW IF THEY ARE COMPATIBLE WITH EACH OTHER. Second being; Jesus Christ it's costly. Third being; Still don't know what parts I want. Fourth; Hell, some of these I'm blatantly guessing on. This is why I'm somewhat leaning towards pre-built computers.

So, what'cha guys think? [I know I should go to a tech forum, which I probably will]
... You should wait till new parts get out ... that's what my friend keeps telling me >.>...

But to be serious now, I could ask that friend, but I'll tell you, it could get expensive, so if you got a limit, then tell me :x
My limit is 2k, US dollars. I'm not a money bank. D;

But yeah, new parts should probably get out soon, but I'm not looking for ultra hardcore things even though it looks like that through my post, I just want something that'll last a few years until even sexier parts come out. Something better than my current build at least. I at least want 60+ FPS on every game I play, especially on max. I play on all low currently, and I barely get 60 FPS. .__.

Please do, thank you. <3
ah ok, I'll keep that in mind Big Grin. ... I just hope I remember to ask >.>...

And I think he keeps saying that because the prizes are lower instead of new parts lol.
Yes, the prices do get lower over the months, but I'm buying the parts/pre-built computer during the weekend of Christmas. So, that's in like 3 months more already. The prices should get cheaper by then, I'm GUESSING. =P, That or I'll be getting the parts next summer. So, I have plenty of time to think it over and look at the prices. So far, I just want to see which one I should get or the components to think of buying.

HE A SMART KID. Don't worry about it if you forget. I'll be researching a lot, I just appreciate halp. =[
He's a kid who keeps saying ''WAIT WAIT WAIT'' and after 10 years, you still haven't got any and he already changed the inside of his computer case 10 times >.> <.<...

Meh I'll not forget xD.
Need to get with the trends, prod him to know when he's changing his computer components. THEN RAPE HIM FOR GIVING YOU FALSE DETAILS. It's easiest to get the parts during maybe holiday sales here, dunno if it's the same for you. You're going to have to do a lot of research for the best parts on your price range. I'm trying to do that right now, while giving myself research on the computer itself.

Now, this is what you do. Speak to this kid, then say "I WILL NOT WAIT, YOU MUST TELL ME WHEN I CAN BUY THESE PARTS", relay the information to me so I can buy parts. ;>

VPOWER, you've just made a promise. Break this promise, AND HEADS WILL ROLL. Speaking of which, any suggestions on parts, Vpower?
I actually went :'' SCREW THAT '' lol. (and I finally got this computer, which is lagging now xD)

and My head is already rolling ._. ...
I'm not so smart with computer parts :x. The only thing I think of is Nvidia video card LOL.

Yeah, uh... I wouldn't go breaking that promise, V. Good luck. o____o
Your head, on the ground rolling a bloody mess onto my computer tower.

But yeah, I've almost made up my mind on the video card. Either nVidia GeForce 8800 GT/X [I might get GTX] 1GB or 512 MB; overclocked maybe. Or, if I can find nice reviews for the nVidia GeForce 9800 GT. That's pretty much my set choice for the video card. They're so hot. <3 But uh, can I possibly get the processor information you two are using? And how well they run, if you don't mind.
You mean this?
Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs)

or something like that o.o;;...
Yes that, and omfg. Do want your processor. Even if it's a dual core. It's sexy sexy. <__< AND IT'S INTEL.

* Chiz pelvic thrusts Intel

My current build is: AMD Phenom™ 8400 Triple-Core Processor (3 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
You know how crappy this processor is to me right now? I could stick it in dry ice and smother it with salted snails and I wouldn't care. Let's trade? =]

* Chiz waits until prices go down for processors
... no >.> <.< ... I probably have to formate my computer, but I don't have the XP disc anymore... I think, or it's hanging around here somewhere.
Format, your computer acting up? Eh ;x, That sucks, bet it's lost in your room. My computer allows me to enter system recovery options before starting up windows. So, I can reformat without disks, even though I SHOULD copy the factory files onto some. Needs more computers like that. <3
try dell.com =] or idk lol x.x
