It's been a long time since I've mastered my Beat-Up Video making skill Tongue And today, I finally had free time to translate my Guide on how to make it - hope you will be able to do so too B)

Tutorial Steps:

1. Identify and edit song's BPM
2. Create Beat-Up sound
3. Create dance clip with your character
4. Select and change Notes's speed
5. Make custom Stage and Background for your Clip
6. Create Beat-Up clip

<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->1-Identify and edit Song's BPM<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

If you're going to make Beat-Up clip with your favorite song (Not available in Audition), you will need to identify its BPM. First, <a href="http://vnup.org/files/857/Software/BpmAnlyz.zip" target="_blank">download BPM Analyzer</a>

Unzip and setup BPM Analyzer. Run the program and click Import Music Files

[Image: importqc4.png]

Browse to your Music Folder. Wait till the song you chose is identified - its BPM will display as follow:

[Image: resultml3.png]

Notice: Sometimes the song's BPM maybe x2 or not (For slow song)

Now, if the BPM is too odd, you can change it with Audacity. <a href="http://vnup.org/files/857/Software/audacity-win-1.2.6.zip" target="_blank">Download here</a>

Setup and run Audacity. Open your song, press CTRL + A to select all, then click Effect => Change Tempo

[Image: importzr9.png]

In the next window, fill in Original BPM and Target BPM. Hit preview to hear change, then click OK

[Image: tempochangegh5.png]

You can now export the edited song to MP3, but Audacity will ask for a DLL file named lame_enc. <a href="http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?lame_enc" target="_blank">So download it</a> and browse to where you put this DLL, and Audacity will export the new MP3 for you
<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->2-Create Beat-Up sound:<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

This will be use as if you were really playing Beat-Up - sound effects for Start, 3-2-1 sign, and of course - clapping sound when you hit each Notes / Space! Since we're making a Video, it's possible to make ALL PERFECT COMBO sound effect - easier and faster for making ^^

You will need Sony Vegas for this step. 7.0e or older version is REQUIRED - it will be used for step 6 too, so save your time.

<a href="http://sony-731.vo.llnwd.net/dspcdn/current/vegas70e_enu.exe" target="_blank">Download Sony Vegas 7.0e Trial</a>

Setup and open SV 7. Hit CTRL + Q 4 times to insert 4 Audio Track. You will use them as follow:

1st track: Add your Background Song
2nd track: Add Alright Now! - Come on! voice at the starting point and Space.wav for each Beat
3rd + 4th track: Add perfect.wav along the song

It's hard to explain this step - I can just say that. You make your own Beat-Up song, you get to know WHEN you want to add Note and Space - then add the Sound Effect to the corresponding position in the time line. Use mouse wheelie to zoom in / out for better view, click Play to test.

[Image: sonysoundgs8.png]

You can download a <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?nmhjl0s21nx" target="_blank">sample Project files for Euro 2005 song</a>. Have a check, and I think you can understand what I mentioned above ^^
<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->3-Create Dance clip with your character<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

This step is optional, but as you wish to make your clip similar to Audition, you may love to do it by the way Tongue

After creating Beat-Up sound, you get to know how many "Spaces" your song had - this will decide how many Dance step your character must perform, including the Finish Move and rest time (Whether there's no space and your character stops dancing). Check it CAREFULLY before advancing on, this will save you much editing trouble!

Be sure you have a Game Recording program installed and running in background like Fraps (<a href="http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/5/3/1043007/Fraps.zip" target="_blank">Download</a>)

Log in your Korean Audition character (Recommended) and choose a Beat-Up song with BPM same as the songs you're making. Be sure to meet 2 below condition:

1 - Starting point late, so you can record along Beat-Up sign after pressing F2
2 - Longer than your song, so you can skip some steps instead of inserting more
3 - Use a normal Stage with NO MOVING OBJECTS! This is required for making custom background. I recommended the HipHop Stage (See example)

[Image: audition200805050432005px7.png]

As you've made your decision, start the Beat-Up match. As soon as you hit F2, press F9 to start recording. After pressing the first Space, immediately hit CTRL + TAB to hide everything - just recording your character dancing only! No need to worry about the note, keep pressing Space and your character will continue dancing. If you want to let him / her stop dancing at central point, holding Space before this step

After finish recording, go back and put your video into Sony Vegas. Mute the game sound and replace with your Beat-Up sound created above - check if the dance step is matched or not. Deleting any unwanted steps / phases, then save your modified clip as Uncompressed AVI file.

Notice: For now only Korean and Chinese Audition feature CTRL + TAB function, so you'd better have these client for recording Dance Clip.

I will make a sample explanation here. You can <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?d9u9nbiouwj" target="_blank">download my edited dancing clip</a>

This is made for my custom song Say the word. <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?ij1gjm2icte" target="_blank">Download Beat-Up sound here</a>

In this song, my character will dance first 7 step, then stop 1/2 step. Next 4 step and another 1/2 step stop. 5 more step and she stops 1/2 step one more time. Now 5 step with first Finish Move (Stopping 2 next step). Then last 11 steps + 2nd Finish Move

Put them in Sony Vegas, and you will understand clearly what I said above :lol:
<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->4-Select and edit Notes Speed<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

Pleskin85 has made a Notes Pack for us, to save editing time. <a href="http://vnup.org/files/857/Notes.zip" target="_blank">Download it here!</a>

PS: You need TSSC codec to view and edit the AVI files. <a href="http://download.techsmith.com/tscc/tscc.exe" target="_blank">Download it here</a>

In the ZIP file above, I've put 6 Notes, Space Bar and the Finish Move Title, all at 100 BPM speed. To use with slower or faster song, we will modify the speed with Window Movie Maker (That's what I do, if you know easier way, please notice me ^^)

Edit Notes Speed with Movie Maker (XP SP2)

First, you need Custom Speed Effect. Open Notepad and fill in with following value:

Code:
<!--
Blaine's Movie Maker Blog
http://movieblog.notlong.com
Additional Speed up, Slow down effects
Copyright (c) 2006-2007

You can add your own effects, by just changing the speed values:
30% faster = 1.30
30% slower = 0.769 (1/1.30)

75% faster = 1.75
75% slower = 0.5714 (1/1.75)

x10 faster = 10.0
x10 slower = 0.10 (1/10.0)
-->

At Slow down, Speed up ?? %, add your custom value, along with speed = "." For example, with 110 BPM, you need to speed up 10% (1.1 time faster). Then the code will be:

<Effect name="Speed up, 10%" iconid="32" speed="1.1" comment="Speed up, 10%">

Save the file as speed.xml (All file Types). Next, put it into folder: C:Program FilesMovie MakerSharedAddOnTFX (Create new folder and name it AddOnTFX if not exist)

Open Movie Maker and import all 6 notes, Space Bar + Finish Move Title. Drag one to Time line then right click and choose Add Effect:

[Image: step4or7.png]

Browse to the Speed effect you made above. In this sample, I need Notes Speed at 136 BPM (36% faster)

[Image: step5tj5.png]

Now save your new Movie with File => Save move

[Image: step6un1.png]

Select setting as follow and hit Next to complete changing Speed

[Image: step7du6.png]

Repeat those step above to complete changing Speed for all the Notes / Space Bar and the Finish Move Titles
<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->5-Make Custom Stage and Background for your clip<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

For more interesting facts, you can add your own Custom Stage with overlay clip for your song (As I and Pleskin did for our Videos). To make custom stage, you simply need one Image at 320 x 240 size or similar. Sony Vegas can help you add Overlay Clip with Video Event Pant / Crop Tools (Sorry, I'm too busy for guiding how to make it Rolleyes )

Anyway, you need Adobe After Effect for this step, so <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=1b2dee367b5be9de8c9e7c56ba37815f037ce64242d08db1" target="_blank">Download it! </a>

Setup and open AE. Choose Composition => New Composition, set up your Video Size and time.

[Image: step1pk1.png]

Now import your edited Video clip at Step 3.

[Image: step2lq8.jpg]

Import another "Blank Stage Image". If you already choose HipHop stage as I mention before, you can use this image:

[Image: stagevf5.png]

Drag and Drop the Image, then the Video file to Timeline. Click the Eye Icon to hide the Stage Image:

[Image: step3ld0xb8.png]

Next, right click at your Video and choose Effect => Keying => Difference Matte

[Image: step4sp8.jpg]

In the control Menu, change the Difference Layer to your Image. Change the DM setting with the control box to make your character display clearer

[Image: step5mi9mg3.png]

When you're done, make another composition with same setting as the first one. Drag Comp 1 into the time line, then the Custom Stage you made.

[Image: step6hz3.jpg]

Use Mask Tools for marking the Dancing Area if you want. Finally, add Echo Effect:

[Image: step7wj4.jpg]

Change the setting as in Image, and you're done:

[Image: step8go2ec5.png]

Now you can export your new Movie. Choose Composition => Make Movie, click Comp 2 to choose save folder, and click Render to finish.

That is it - new Stage for your Audition clip! Interesting right?

[Image: dance0001nk9.jpg]

And for your convenience, here is the Tutorial Video Pleskin85 gave out, for how to do this step: <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?ntjduplxxhv" target="_blank">Download here</a>
<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->6. Create Beat-Up clip<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

Now it's time for adding Notes / Space to your clip! Return to Sony Vegas and make a new Project :lol: This time, you need to stretch video to 320 x 240, as the Notes we made above is at this size.

[Image: step1ns7.png]

Drag your new Video to Sony Vegas, add the Beat-Up sound then match them together. Hit CTRL + SHIFT + Q for new Video Track and add Beat-Up Frame Image. You can download this:

[Image: barkd3.png]

Now prepare 10 more Video Track. As each Notes require one Note Video, you get to add many Video Tracks, so they won't hit each other. See my example image below ? I had many notes to insert at one time, so I must insert them into separate Video Track

V

[Image: step2ug2.png]

But, if you use default Video track Motion, the Notes Video will hide all the other clips below them. Therefore, you must change its Track Motion to Screen as follow:

[Image: step3ym2.png]

Now, it's all up to you to finish your video. Use the preview Panel for checking result, but since it's way very LAG, you should change the quality to Draft (Half) for better FPS:

[Image: step4en4.png]

After completing your Movie, you can save it with File => Render As... Browse for a folder, set WMV format if you want to share in YouTube

[Image: step5kh7.png]

Phew, finally done the hardest step :lol:
<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Bonus: Add new Chances Notes!<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

Maybe most of us are familiar with Del Chance in Beat-Up mode already (Avoid Red Notes). :lol: As Clip Maker, we can also add some more challenges - the New Chances Notes for more funs B) Now, Pleskin85 gave you the chance to do it so - <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?tzmyty2k1mj" target="_blank">Download New Chances Notes</a>

Except Delete chance, this pack contain 8 new Chances mode for your choice:

` CapsLock Key: 7=1,9=3
a BackSpace Key: 7=9,4=6,1=3
b Tab Key: 7=3,4=6,1=9
c Enter
<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Bonus: Add Combo Type!<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

From Step 1 to Step 6, I've taught you how to make simple Beat-Up video, with no Red / Blue Beat-Up indicate. For advanced designing, this Step will tell you how to add Red / Blue Sign for your clip - like this:

[Image: image0bz9.png]

First, <a href="http://vnup.org/files/857/Software/Combo_type.zip" target="_blank">download Combo_Type.zip</a>

Unzip the pack, and you will see Beat-Up bar for all the combo: 10 - 20 - 40 - 60 - 100 - 150 - 200 - 250 - 300 - 350 - 400. Just add them to the corresponding time as you want B)

The 100.avi and 400.avi can be used the same way with Notes Video. Add it to a Screen Video Track, and it will display Red / Blue Beat-Up as you want.

Use the new Space_Bar_Combo.avi in this pack - it had black Bar so the Combo Image can display too

Ok, my guide is finished here. If you have questions / problems, feel free to post it, and I will try my best for help :lol:

Have fun
