As the title says, how do most of you play 8-key; where do you have your hands before the choreo (or freestyle) shows?
Do you start with your fingers at:
..8
4..6
------
..5
1..3
Etc...
What's your start/normal position of your fingers, and do you use 3 fingers only, or do you use more than just those?; pinkie, thumb?
Just curious about how most of you play. =]
My right hand only, on 4, 5 and 6.
I use both of my hands to land specific moves, especially if I'm on freestyle.
In order to reach the keys fast enough, I lift my wrist at least a few centimeters above the keyboard.
I AM very eager of challenging myself and trying to use my right hand on the arrow keys, and my left hand on the scroll keys (Home, End, etc.).
My right hand only. My fingers are positioned to the 4k keys and forms a cross formation. My wrist is rested flat so I'm always comfortable and never tired even if I play for long.
My cross formation 4k:
Index finger: 4
Ring finger: 6
Middle finger: 8
Thumb finger: 2
Pinky finger: has no use, haha
They are always intact. But when I am doing 8k:
Index finger: moves up to press 7
Ring finger: moves up to press 9
Middle finger: does not move at all
Thumb finger: moves left or right for 1, 3
I've never changed from the default 4,5,6 position. Kinda slow, but my fingers move fast enuf to cover high speeds (or at least they used to?). And as for hands...i'd stick to 1 hand if i'm playing 130 and under, anything higher would require 2 hands (as in left thumb on spacebar
)

although i 8k that way too.
i'm left handed so my right hand is weaker than most of you
other than maybe hardcore beatup viet players, i've never really heard of a 2-handed audi player XD i'm the same as ice, doing 4, 5, 6 on right hand.

index and middle fingers on left ctrl
I've seen someone playing 8ks with right hand on numpad and left hand on arrow keys. She only uses numpad for diagonal keys o_o;

I think I've seen somebody play with the Home and Page Up etc. buttons if I recall correctly o.o;;
Index on 1, Middle on 2, Ring on 3.
I take out my 5 key because I don't really 1,2 party..AND my keyboard isn't meant for such fast movement..so my fingers or the key gets stuck when I try to push them sometimes.
and I use home, end, pg up, and pg down for doing fast BU songs.

i use the 456 position but with a twist... i 8k on a laptop which doesnt have a numpad
the keys i use that act like the numpad are
789(789)
UIO(456)
JKL(123)
My left hand is on the fn button which makes the keys work!!
