don't you think that we should limit our siggy sizes?
Gn said that it should not be more than 4 images and should now be wallpaper size,. but i think that is still too large,..

why don't we follow the size of other forums like 200x400 px? siggys are for identification like names so i just think it should be just small....

it is just a suggestion so reject it if you want... just don't flame meh...

and BTW, is gravedigging against the rules?

I agree... I think this was discussed before, though. But I agree this should be looked upon to. I really hate seeing large signatures that stretches the page or loads too long because it's too big.

I don't really think grave-digging is bad. BUT if it's too old, then it shouldn't be revived anymore because likely the discussion is over. There are many cases where the discussion is already over so there is no need to post anymore.

I know that you should NOT revive:
- very old topics, more than a month old or so
- old welcome threads (because the member is no longer new by then)
- old event topics (like finished tournaments, etc.)

It is, of course, okay to use the search button if you are looking for something from an old thread.

But if there is a question related to the thread, and is not located anywhere in the forum, one user can just make a new question thread in the right section.
lol one month...then the maple story anime thread is dead 12x over xD yet its been revived o.o

regarding the sigs. yes they should be small and you shouldn't post anything that takes too long to load. If you want it in there, then post a link instead.

as for grave digging, i think its fine. Its really better than having the same questions that were answered long ago pop back up 10x more. Grave digging is fine, just as long as its necessary to revive. if not, then...we'll just have to close the topic. (when i say necessary, i mean if you REALLY don't understand something thats been said and u need to ask, or if its something like MS, where the anime came out recently and discussion is wanted, then fine.)
Yeah I agree with Ice about the grave digging

and about the signatures, just set up a max size + images?
well, I DID have it as no taller than 200 pixels, but then I had to yell at like....30 different people for that (remember that time, ice? XD) So i just said f-it and took the limit off since a majority of people seem to understand what a SIGNATURE entitles to, but I guess if its a must i'll have 300 pixel limit this time, no taller, and i'm leaving the image limit to 4, since that's kinda always been on the rules to begin with

Yes, my point. There are of course exemptions, and like I said I don't think grave-digging is bad at all, so long as there's a real purpose for the dig. However, most threads never need to be revived like those I mentioned. But I do believe the search button will answer most questions because likely the thread was already mentioned in the past (basing from this forum's experience), that's also why I'd like to lessen the revival of done-over threads so it wouldn't be too clunked and the search feature is more appreciated. The only reason why I mentioned "make a new one if it's not anywhere" is because it's likely not connected or there's nothing about the topic being searched about. But if there's enough relevance, then of course dead topic revival is better than making a duplicate.
point well taken... i was just planning to revive a topic moths ago coz i want to post my comment but i guess that is not reasonable enough.. ^^ so nvm...

sorry i just joined a couple of months ago so i still don't know there was a discussion on siggy sizes,. i just read the forum rules thing above each topic... my siggy is appx. 350 tall so i'll change it when i get back home... our school server doesn't allow some features... so many animated images could take the page long too long to load.. T_T
I hate signature limits D:

A limit of 1000 pixels high would be fine though. Or 700-800.
1000 pixel limit is TOTALLY ridiculous, I've HAD some people post sigs of that size and I just couldn't allow it .__. People even commented on them saying their internet was lagging like hell trying to load such images -_-
if u ppl gota post such images, then put it in ur profile on facebook/myspace or something. putting it on signatures is a nuisance to ppl with slow internet(aka ME!)

1000 pixels for a signature?! That's nearly to touch a resolution of 1024 x 768! ^^;;;

I see no purpose of creating too huge images just for a simple signature. We've been tolerating more than 1 image in the signature, I don't believe we need to extend to even allowing people to have any large image they want in their signature. This is done to benefit not only one person, but a lot of people. Not everyone has ultra fast internet OR huge screens for the matter. Some people even have 800 x 600, still. (Sadly.)

Huge images that can nearly be a desktop wallpaper-- those kinds of things are meant to be shared elsewhere, like Ice said.

EDIT:

This is from another forum (FFI), and this is a recommended size if you really want thick image signatures:

Any more than that, I find -outside- the boundary of being a "signature banner."
ahh... so that makes my sig... too big?

hnm... hnm... hnm....
yes <_<

your sig is too big  Tongue
1000 px... why don't just make a thumbnail of your image linking it to the original image?.. just a suggestion...
