People, Places, and Things

Audition City
Though the name may be weird, Audition City is none the less a hell of a place to be. In the city, your status is not determined by your wealth, by your success, by your smarts, or by your looks; but rather, how well you do in ‘ODBs’ - Online Dance Battles.
The entire city, not just its Broadcasting Stations, is hooked up to ODB. So, you can be challenged to a match - and humiliated - at any time. It keeps everyone in the city on their toes, or rather, on the dance floor.
Because of the city’s maniacal obsession with ODB, it’s pretty shut off from the rest of the world.

Online Dance Battle
A virtual-reality dancing game. Given a brief moment to memorise each set of steps, the players must then perform those steps; perfectly in tune with music playing in the background. It’s rather simple to learn, but insanely difficulty to master. Typically, it is played in Broadcasting Stations.
Abbreviated as ODB (Pronounced Odd-bah), Online Dance Battle has only reached a high popularity level in Audition City.
ODB was developed by Corporation 18.

Corporation 18
Nobody knows much about C-18. After all, since its game is the foundation of life in Audition City, the number 18, and all things associated with it, seems to have been censored right out of existence. Regardless, investigations have turned up nothing. Nobody knows where C-18 came from, or just how much power they hold over the city. Nobody really cares much, either, since C-18 secretly keeps the ODB system that covers the entire city working.
Because of the strange lack of 18 showing up anywhere in the city, the number ‘18’ often replaces many swears.

The 191
(That’s nineteen-one)
Often called ‘the closest to 18 without actually being them’, 191 is the codename of a group of the best ODB players in existence. Behind the scenes, 191 runs the largest and most popular Broadcasting Station in Audition City, Freedom Server. Though one would think that Broadcasting Stations are unnecessary with the whole city being one, they are still the place for any formal sort of competitions.
Since the 191 is made up of the best players, those who perform extraordinary feats in the city are often said to be ‘members of 191’. Or hackers. One of the two.
Who exactly is in the 191, what their goal is, and everything else about them is shrouded in mystery.

Freedom Server
The biggest and most exclusive Broadcasting Station in Audition City, it is the site of tournaments, the hangout of the best of the best, and the aspirations of all the lower-ranked dancers in the city.
Despite being the most scrutinised and admired place in town, there are regardless many mysteries surrounding it; stories of the 191, of secret passages and arenas... and of a phantom...
Other Broadcasting stations, in order of fame and ranking, are: Entry Channel, Novice Branch, Midway, and Grandstand, though Freedom Server tops the chart.

Dramatis Personae - Original Cast

[Image: RoivasCarlotta.jpg]Roivas (Original - Main Character)
A rather plain 16-year-old teenaged boy, he never imagined himself as a dancer until a couple of friends managed to get him dancing at his eighteenth birthday. He didn’t expect that he was being watched by Audition City Recruiters, and got a letter shortly after from his supposedly-dead-sister Alexis to come to Audition City. All the directions he got led to an apartment building, where he met his new roommates; Garlyle and Elion. He has no clue that he’s about to have to develop his natural dancing talent very fast if he wants a chance to save his sister.

Alexis (Original)
Alexis was said to have died when she was only eight years old, but now, ten years later, she’s sent Roivas a letter asking him to come to Audition City. She knew Elion growing up, and asked him if he’d take care of her younger brother when he arrived. She disappeared about a week before Roivas arrived, and nobody seems to be able to say what happened to her.

Dramatis Personae - Non-Original Cast

Ace (191_Ace)
The legendary Ace disappeared from the scene immediately after winning his first major tournament about ten years ago. He hasn’t been seen since, except on rare occasions, in which he has assumed different identities. Many people have theorised many things about the legendary Ace, but they all seem to boil down to this: he is the rumoured leader of The 191.

Astrid (Astrid)
Audition City's most famed doctor, due to the general lack of violence Astrid almost single handidly takes care of all injuries suffered in the city limits. Though very sweet, caring, and gentle (and admired by some patients, one or two whom deliberately injure themselves just to see her), she has a fairly serious side and is helping Esper with discovering the identity of the assassin 'Kami'.

Aura (Auramei)
Aura is a rather calm young woman who doesn't spend a lot of her time dancing. Instead, she works at the recording studio as the lead singer of 'Jewelllery', one of the groups that's constantly producing new music for the dancers to compete to. She did a couple songs alongside Alexia before she went professional and Alexia decided to focus on dancing.

Blazen (BlazenJ)
Best friend and rival to the 'cold' Ice, Blazen's got a fiery, confrontational, but overall funloving spirit; this oftentimes puts him in trouble with a lot of the best. However, unlike many other hotheads, Blazen's got skills to back up many of his claims. On the side, he works with Elion in building the seemingly-never-anywhere-near-finished Cash Shop.

Chenny (Chenny)
Chenny is the only dancer in Audition City who openly identifies herself as a C-18 member. Therefore, she doesn't actually have much time to dance; she spends a lot of time dealing with complaints, suggestions, and everything else about the ODB system and relaying it to her superiors, whom she refuses to identify. She knows more about Alexia's disappearance than she's letting be known, however.

Cross (Cross)
Let’s face it, there’s only one role befitting Cross; that of Superstar. The single most well-known face in Audition, it’s said he was one of the prototype testers of ODB and a former member of C-18, and that’s why he’s got skills beyond the levels of anyone else. Wherever he goes, men and women all over the city swoon; the rest tremble in fear of his insanely 1337 skills.

Elion (Elion)
One of Roivas’ two roommates in Audition City, he’s a fairly friendly, rather cute guy, though not quite as flirtatious as Garlyle. Him and Garlyle have been friends for a long time, even if Elion is several license levels above Garlyle. Though not the best-of-the-best by a long shot, Elion competes in small time tournaments to make a living and works part time, setting up the Cash Shop. Growing up, his best friend was Alexis, but he refuses to tell Roivas what has happened to her.

Esper (Esperanza)
A one-woman task force and SWAT team. Esper (Full name Esperanza) is an ex-superstar dancer turned cop, who decided to put a little order into Audition City. She always carries a gun on her hip with which to begin dance battles. Battles begun with it knock the loser unconscious, and with her mad skills, few criminals can manage to get away. She’s particularly famous and feared among the city. Her goal seems to be to take down Kami; though she also has a strong dislike for Garlyle for some unknown reason.

Ethan (EthanWolf)
Ethan was one of the first hackers in the ODB system, and began rigging matches to provide easier steps for himself and harder ones for opponents. At first it was seen simply as bad luck, until his success came under heavy investigation. Hopps was the one who got proof that Ethan was hacking, and he was forbidden from major tournaments. However, he still plays ocassionally, and some people go to play him in deliberately rigged matches to prove their worth. For the most part now, he works at the Music Shop.

Fai (Faifai)
Fai is an average dancer who used to be nobody spectactular, until he discovered he was better with his voice than his feet. The day of the realisation, he auditioned for a new band, 'Pinkle', and became the male lead of the band. It was there that he met Samsoon, and in the last year the two of them have become engaged, to much popularity (and equal amounts of gossip!). There wedding is coming up very fast...

Fu Jin (Fujin)
One of the famed Jin sisters (The other being Ichi Jin), Fu travels the world outside of Audition City in search of new talent. Her dancing skills are nothing compared to those of her sister, but her charisma and spunk makes up for it. Since she has actually got more people to travel to Audition City than Ichi has, she knows many more; it was her knack that managed to pick up Alexis when she was eight, but she refuses to let that be known.

Gamin (Gamingnerd)
Known by many men as their idol, a great cassanova... and known by many women as a perverted stalker. Gamin delights in interspersing his dances with provocative poses, and almost never plays against another male. The only time he has was a very well known incident in which Garlyle dressed himself up as a girl. Extraordinarily, Gamin didn't realise it until they were already dancing. He's become a little more reserved since then.

Garlyle (Garlyle! Me!)
There is a saying in Audition City: “To meet everybody in Audition City, you simply must first befriend Garlyle”. Though only ranked as a Rookie (and seemingly permanently stuck there), he is good friends and a regular competitor with all of the top legends of Audition City. By some stroke of luck, Roivas’ roommate in Audition City turned out to be Garlyle. Whether this was a stroke of good luck or bad, however, remains to be seen; poor Roivas is now stuck with the most flirtatious ‘boy-loving boy’ in Audition City.

Hopps (Hopps)
Hopps works alongside Esper in the Audition City Police Department. In particular, he single-handedly makes up the Bomb Removal Squad. Though, bombs are rare in Audition City, so instead he mostly deals with investigating and preventing hacking attempts into the ODB systems, to prevent rigging of contents. Him and Garlyle have an exceedingly strong affinity with one another.

Howard (RockHoward)
An amateur hacker into the ODB systems, he has been caught once or twice hacking standard, no-consequence matches, and therefore has never suffered a serious penalty. His insights into the way the system works are suspect, it's believed he worked at developping the system originally. Despite his reputation as a known hacker, people sometimes come to him for a 'little help'...

Ice (PhoenixIce)
They call him the cold-hearted dancer, the impression most people get from him when they meet him is that of a man who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. That's far from the truth. Though indeed devoted, Ice has been known to throw tournaments to players he considers better, and to his friends, and is determined to eventually blow away the competition one day, out of nowhere.

Ichi Jin (Ichijin)
One of the Jin sisters (The other being Fu Jin), Ichi is almost never in Audition City. Instead, her and her sister travel around the world in search of new dancing talent to come to Audition City. Ichi keeps closer contact with Audition City than her sister, and often takes requests from the populace to find particular people out there. It was her that managed to find Roivas. She has no clue what happened to Alexis.

Jet (JetTairo)
A hyperactive youth, though Jet may be very untrained and is far from smooth in his steps, he can outmatch in speed capabilities of most others of his license. If it weren't for his slightly bratty personality and hotheadedness, causing him to often take, and lose, challenges from more stable players, Momo probably would have given her consent for him to take his License test a while back.

Jiji (Jiji)
Poor, poor Jiji happened to have stumbled across the truth of what happened to Alexis a week ago. Before she could tell anyone, she received a threat from an unknown source saying to leave town and sever all connections. So she left, but she couldn’t bear to be away from the city and people she had grown to love so much. Thus, she became the conductor of a bus that took new citizens into the city, unaware that she really shouldn’t have come back...

Kai (Kai28)
Kai has a rather high level of fame in the city as a dancer. Though his skills are not necessarily anything exceedingly spectacular, it's mostly the fact that he often gives Cross a run for his money as a competitor that gets him attention. In fact, he's said to be the closest to beating Cross and stealing away his title as champion. He's always playing against or with Cross, and there's a lot of suspicion about the possibility of a romance there.

Kain (KamiKaner)
Kain is not a spectacular dancer, and instead spends most of his time in Audition City working as manager of his own small Broadcasting Station, Midway. Yet, every city has its darkside, and Kain is part of it. An assassin by trade, his skills aren’t called on that much in this fairly peaceful city. However, his codename, Kami, is well known and feared by all. He’s known as the ‘Leg Killer’; for he kills them with the legs of former victims... creepy...

Kowiz (Kowiz)
Kowiz is a young man in eastern culture clothing, who place amongst the top competitors in almost any tournament, despite being a lower license player. Kowiz holds a secret, however; he has the skills necessary to hack into the ODB system and rig the results of a game. He’s never once been caught, the only hacker who has never been. He’s especially nervous around Hopps, who seems to sense that Kowiz is responsible for many unsolved crimes.

Laha (Lahahorn)
Despite his rather feminine name, Laha is a guy. A mysterious guy who never goes by his true name. Instead, he goes by the title, “Phantom of the Broadcast”. He wears a mask, though nobody quite knows why, and he is said to make a brief appearance in the shadows whenever something goes horribly wrong in the Freedom Server. What his objectives are, however, remain to be seen, regardless, he is said to be responsible for many deaths in Audition City...

Lumina (Llumina)
One of the more recent arrivals in Audition City, she is currently under the tutelage of Momo in Entry Channel, and shows remarkable promise. Since she's not good enough for tournaments yet, however, she has a job in Audition City's biggest mall, 'Fashion Shop', and amazingly that's put her in contact with almost everybody in the city. She may know more of the citizens of the city than Garlyle!

Momo (momochan)
Quite a literal peach, Momo is very sweet and soft and cuddly and reassuring. Though her skills are nothing fantastic, she is an instructor at the lowest of the Broadcasting Stations, Entry Channel. It will be her ability to instruct Roivas that will set him on his way to find Alexis; and though Momo doesn’t like to say it, she used to be one of Alexis’ room mates.

Nettis (Nettis)
A beautiful, talented young dancer whose beauty has won almost as many admiring eyes as Cross as earned... well, about as close as anybody can get to such a status. She's a driven competitor and dancer, and moves with a fire in her eyes, but outside of ODB she's a very soft-hearted, kind individual who became famous for the extravagence of her marriage to Wu Fei, an event that has become distorted to legendary proportions.

Peach (PeachGirl)
The younger sister of Momo, Peach - the other Peach Girl - is a joyous thirteen year old girl who works a completely different line of business from her sister. Peach runs the Fruit Cafe, a really nice little building just down the road from Midway Server, which is a favourite stop for everybody from the poorest to the richest, known for its extravagant food. The only help she gets in the business is from small time people, like Hooni.

Raian (Raian)
The young Raian is an unassuming 14-year-old boy who never competes in big tournaments. He only competes in smaller ones, but wins almost all of them. In fact, he’s seemingly never been defeated, but yet somehow keeps a low profile. Cross seems to ‘look up’ to the young man, after all, Raian is the only person to have ever bested Cross in an ODB, though they keep their rivalry and friendship very secret.

Samsoon (Samsoon)
Samsoon is a somewhat plain young dancer who doesn't elicit the same fanbase many other superstar female dancers obtain. On the flip, however, she's very popular as the female lead of 'Pinkle', one of the bigger music groups on Audition. Her and Aura are both good friends and rivals, on both the music scene and the dance floor. She is engaged to Fai.

Sazuki (Sazuki)
Sazuki's job technically involves her in every single tournament. When she's not dancing herself, she's known for her great vocal talents as an announcer, and serves as hostess to every major tournament in town. When she's not working doing that, she works at the Licensing department; having both these lucrative jobs makes her one of the richest in town.

Souhei (Souhei)
Souhei is an overall unremarkable dancer, but that doesn't stop him from trying hard. He makes his living as Esperanza's (slightly bumbling) assistant, and teammate, when it comes down to doing a team match to take down opponents. Of course, the matches are mostly decided by Esper's skills, but Souhei occasionally gets a spurt of luck and outdances her, which has earned him a fair amount of respect and a bit of fear, too. He had a romantic connection with Jiji, until...

Spyder (xSpYdaHx)
This mysterious young man is one of the top contenders for Cross’ title as Audition City Champion, though he always seem to fall slightly short of success. His timing and rhythmic senses are said to be more developed than those of Cross, but he cannot match the sheer variety and smoothness of Cross’ steps.

Wu Fei (WuFei)
An oriental man who works as manager of the Fashion Store. Oddly, he is not seen dancing very often, he's almost better known for his 'eternal passionate love' for Nettis than anything else, but underneath the normally fair exterior exists a secret or two. Those who speak of the dark side of the city say that Wu was once a heartless man, and one of the most powerful amongst the criminals and masterminds that worked behind the scenes.

X (xXmyStickXx)
This young lady is Cross’ agent and rumoured romantic connection (of course, there are many romantic rumours where he is concerned). She goes by the name X, for some reason nobody can quite figure out. Some people say that she was the secret to Cross’ fame, that somehow she was able to enchant him to have mad dancin' skillz. Whether its a load of bull or not remains to be seen.

Yavi (Yavi)
Garlyle’s sister Yavi is a young, up and coming dancer of no real remarkability, though she does have some fame since she shares the same fortune that her brother does, from their shared father, whoever the hell he is. She’s the top of the class in Entry Server and is due to shortly take her license test to graduate into tournament player status, an event her brother is looking forward to.

Zabi (Zabi)
Zabi is a rather loudmouthed man, though he often seems to be calculating out what his next words are before he says them. He was hired by C-18 in the city’s early days as chief architect, and therefore he knows every building in the entire city like the back of his hand. Taking precedence over his dancing is his job, he’s currently overseeing the construction of Cash Charge.

o.o I wont mind, he can write anything he wants. X3
Kaner, 'hun, you worry too much >_> I've got -lots- of experience as a writer (a surprisingly well known Fanfiction writer for about... 3, 4 years now?). So I can tell you a few things right now:

:Being semi-AU, and since obviously not everybody is going to be perfectly in character, there's artistic license. Of course, I'm not going to do anything terribly rude and mean.

:And as far as the whole '"me and hopps had s*x and then*' line...
1 - I'm going to restrain myself and keep it PG-13
2 - So the most you're going to get is suggestion, more than likely
and 3 - About a year and half of that experience is as a gay NC-17 writer >_> So I don't write, "We had sex, then," I go -much- more in depth. That's actually kind of insulting to me, but you wouldn't have known any different, so... as long as you know I wouldn't write that. (Luckily for you all, I'm keeping it PG-13)
EDIT: and 4 - Thanks, Elion-kun~ *Wink*

...wait, wait... Hopps already has a bf...? *Eyes go blank*
