I figured since some certain individuals have such a grudge against aAU, it would be interesting to hear detailed, organized opinions on why they think that way. Same goes for those who actually have positive opinions. =3
Personally, I only ever play aAU anymore after my experiences with many other servers. Lets look at the pluses.
A community that resides in my own country.
American made music that I've often never heard of which sometimes can even get me interested in a band.
Fast paced patching in comparison to other servers.
Excellent servers with hardly a trace of any server latency issues, even if people still like to shout 'lag' all the time at their computers own frame lag.
Theres a big negative however which is my biggest and probably only problem with this server, and thats not having the option to purchase cash items for an unlimited time. Because of this, I only stick to den items. Doesn't matter much to me though cause I still look sexy. <3
Haha, you know I had to reply to this. All of those who find me "annoying", however, do hear me out, because I do have valid reasons for why I feel the way I do.
I feel that Nexon is not a well-run server primarily because of their inability to listen to their users' wants and concerns. Two prime examples? The lack of permanent cash items and the fact that they've flatly refused to add any Asian songs even though a lot of aAU players would like to see them added. Though I don't go on the Nexon forums very often, when I do, a "Request Asian songs here" thread or similar is usually close to the top of the Tunes subforum. It's clear to me that many people, myself included, would like Asian songs in AAU. I assume that Nexon's reasons for doing so are either that they consider Asian songs too expensive to license (but I'm sure that the Fall Out Boy and Jennifer Lopez songs weren't exactly cheap either) or that they're hesitant to add songs that aren't in English. If it's the former, Nexon needs to suck it up. They make enough money off MapleStory and as a company in general to be able to satisfy their players' wants. If it's the latter, Nexon needs to realize that, cliche or not, this entire country is a nation of immigrants. English is not the only language of America and they should put a variety of songs from other countries in their game.
Second thing? Any other Audition server I've ever played on has had a fee of the base price x6 for permanent cash items. Nexon's fee? x6 for three months. To put that into perspective:
Let's say I want to purchase two identical cash outfits on kAU and aAU. Sample prices are below.
Shirt: 1600 cash
Bottom: 1200 cash
Hairstyle: 1200 cash
Shoes: 1000 cash
Now multiply each by six:
Shirt: 9600
Bottom: 7200
Hairstyle: 7200
Shoes: 6000
Total: 39600.
Ouch, right? Well, it gets worse. On kAU, i'm done, I've got that outfit until the day they shut that game down. On aAU, since I've got to buy it quarterly (every 3 months), let's multiply that bad boy times 4 for a total of 158,400 cash points per year.
Since Nexon cash is 10,000 points for 10, that means I've got to spend 158.40 every year to keep my character dressed in ONE cash outfit.
See, this is why I don't like Nexon. They tout their games as free to play, but they know that everyone (or nearly everyone) is going to want to purchase cash items. So they jack up the price on those to an unbelievable extent. And I don't like being ripped off. That's why I don't play there much. And those of you who think I'm complaining for no reason, think about it. Should you have to pay upwards of 100 a year for one in-game outfit when on other servers you can get it for a fraction of the cost? Hello, reality check. Nexon doesn't give a shit about you or your opinion, they just want your and don't even provide that great of a service in return.
There are positives. They're catching up very quickly in terms of adding modes. For those of you who choose to play there, I don't want to belittle your experience or anything of that nature. I'm just making the observation that Nexon does not seem very inclined to listen to their users, and the prices of their cash items are just ridiculous and a total ripoff.

I like how Nexon's trying to catch up with all the other servers, but most of their song choices just... to put it nicely... make my ears bleed. `.` Don't get me wrong, some of the songs they choose are good (Tobymac - One World, Gone; Hellogoodbye - Here In Your Arms; Fall Out Boy - Thnks Fr Th Mmrs; Jennifer Lopez - Do It Well; etc.) but some of the songs really need to go die. One of the things I'm really upset about is the cash items. I really want to be able to keep my items forever, and gift items to my friends. Yes, I do buy NXCash, but I try not to do it too often because the outfit just expires anyway (Though I do have a question about this, I'll ask this a little later since it's a bit off topic). As for the gifting, I know it was disabled due to scams, but for the love of all that's good and holy, if you're stupid enough to sell something ingame for NXCash or something in real life to someone you don't even know, then you deserve to get scammed. -_-
Now, for the thing I'm REALLY upset about: the community. I know anywhere I go there's going to be assholes, but aAU's community is just... -_- I can't enter ONE competition or channel without seeing "SEX" or something of the sort. When I used to play a lot, every five minutes I'd get accused of hacking because I'd be able to pull off a high chain, or just because I beat someone and they're sore losers. People calling me a hacker have gotten better recently though, I can actually play now and not get kicked from a room, and some people even call me pro (Even though I still have quite a long way to go to be even close to being called "pro"). I'd also get asked to couple a lot which was pretty annoying considering it was random people I didn't even know (I was forced to couple with my own guy character to get the requests to stop, but it leaked I was coupled with myself so the requests started again. x.x Vpower coupled with me though, still need to thank him for saving me from those scary people. ;
Now, as for people getting mad at others for comparing aAU to kAU, I can understand why people get upset about that. kAU has been around a
lot longer than aAU, so of course it's going to be better. When they compare aAU to eAU though, I see a point. aAU started earlier than eAU and eAU already has more modes than aAU (And a lot better song choices, I must say-- Even if it's only 10 songs plus Audition songs.).

A month before I stopped playing aAU, I purchased an outfit for my girl character and an outfit and hair for my guy character with NXCash. When I came back like three or four months later, the outfit on my girl character was still there with 4000 hours left, and my guy character's outfit expired but his hair was still there with 5000 hours left. o_o When my girl character's outfit went to 300 hours left, I bought a new outfit for her and it popped back up to 4000 again. O_O I dunno if it's a bug or what but it's a free outfit. xD<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

I'll sort of type of what I thought about it from beginning till now.
At first, before aAU (or Aau blablabla) came, I was pretty excited (SP?) about it. Though, the Maple Story game was in the back of my head though while thinking that. (And hearing all the stories about hacking and stuff.)
When it was out, I downloaded it (without my friend noticing lol) and then tried it, though I already didn't like the songs. They are so short and well... no asian songs, but man, what about canon groove x.x. (My friend found out though, duh xD it's his computer, now I don't have to worry about it hehe. he deleted it ;3)
Oh yeah, I'm a lucky guy who didn't meet (or maybe once orso, not alot) stupid people lol. Except for when I try to join an NPC battle when I was lvl6 lol.
After a while (Like, last months.), they uploaded more modes and stuff, and I'm happy that Crazy11 is in it! (yayness!) They also added nice songs. To bad they removed songs that was pretty awesome as well T.T.
The Competition Server lacks spam :x. I've went to kau and sau competition (when it was stil there) and the spam was ALOT. Compared to aau server lol. Not that I care xD. Oh yeah, Hanako: SEX *bricked*.
Oh yeah, it stil sucks, because my fav. shoes isn't in it T.T. (and yes, this is a joke about that it sucks cause of 1 item.)

And the harrassment still does not stop even WHEN you're coupled sadly... Sure it may diminish for a while but soon it's...unavoidable... People will ask you to do some...crazy awkward crap like. "Break up with your couple and get with me! ;D" I actually had to block some people who were like that.. I'm sure Meli had to too... T_T

My point of view.
Positive :
I like a lot of the songs.
OMGWTFBBQ?! yea you heard me right <3 I actually like many of the songs on aAU. I think it's a good change from the usual asian songs on most, if not all, audition servers. I would literally go on, play a song and just listen to it.
English speaking community.
This is probably the main reason I chose aAU over other better servers. You can go on anytime and still start conversation with random ppl, rather than sitting in an empty channel waiting for your friends to come online or play in a room where everyone is speaking !@%@!#^@# then gets kicked for pwning them.
Non-laggy server.
For me anyways.
Pretty decent updates, modes etc.

Then I got over it and happily purchasing monthly outfits~ New outfits every month weeee :] When theres something nice in the mall, chances is I already have it indef on sea/kau so *shrugs* doesnt rly matter. Btw I don't think 3 months items are x6 base price, it was x4 if I remembered correctly. I could be wrong tho, since I never got 3 months items.
Noobs calling you hackers
I have only encountered this ONCE, and yea it pissed me off. But I suppose it happens to everyone... even in kAU. I mean, who knows what they said in korean before they kicked you? So I concluded that this is a common thing in all audition servers, you just have to deal with it. aAU is not the only server with idiots like that.
Conclusion:
For a game like Audition, the thing that matters the most is [for me anyways] the community. aAU might not have the best modes and/or the latest updates etc, but its community is the one I like the most out of all other servers. Coupled that with the fact that I love the songs on aAU, the inability to purchase indef items bears little significance.
PS: I lied. The main reason is because all my hanis and darlings play on aAU <3 *cough* and other sexies <3 They matter to me most :]

They are. I recently purchased a cash hairstyle and the base price was 1200 and the fee for three months was 7200, aka x6. Trust me, when I say something, it's true - I don't make things up just to exaggerate ^^

Clothes - i couldnt care less about cash clothes, but they at least have some of the kau clothes i want
