<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--> "Hey Cream! A letter came for you!" came the shout from downstairs. I immediately knew what it was. I had been waiting for it for the whole day. I dashed downstairs, took the envelope from Mocha, my younger sister, and ripped it open. The letter inside said:
Hi -ICE_CrEaM-,
We have the results of your audition ready.
Congratulations! You are one of the very few lucky ones who passed the test. You are invited to come to Audition Town now. You know where it is. We look forward to meeting you.
An entry card has been included in the envelope.
Sincerely,
George.
Mocha had been reading over my shoulder. She pointed accusingly at me and yelled, "YOU ACTUALLY WENT FOR THIS? I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THAT. MOM IS SOO GONNA KILL YOU."
"Hey, no need to shout, man. Mom is overseas anyway. For the next, what, 2 years? When she comes back she'll be proud that she has a Dance Master for a son."
"If you are able to become one. I bet a million bucks you won't be able to, looking at your crappy attitude." she replied. I glared at her. "Then be prepared to lose your money. Just watch me. I'll be a Dance Master in no time. Plus, I won't have school to bother me anymore."
"You'll become a Dance Master? Yeah right." came the reply.
I remembered the entry card. I took it out of the envelope, and gaped at it. I thought aloud, "Beautiful, man. The wavy edges, the colour, everything. Look! Even my name is on it!" Mocha snatched the card away and stared at it. "This is so unfair. You get to go to Audition Town. Next year I'm going to audition, I want to go too!" "And a certain SOMEONE was scolding me for going..." I replied.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ok Mocha! I'm leaving!" I shouted. She shouted back, "Wait! I need to give you something." She ran to me, and placed a weird shaped stone on my hand. "What is this?"
"It's umm...my lucky charm. I hope you win all your games there! Use it well!"
"Thanks a lot, Mocha. I'll be back tonight." And I walked off.
"Remember to take some photos of Audition Town for me!" She yelled after me.

*Welcome to Audition Town*
I stared at the place. It was certainly bigger than I expected it to be. On TV it looked so much...smaller. Now that I was here I couldn't believe it. There was a wide, open area with a fountain right in front of me, and many weird buildings around it.
"Hey! Are you a newcomer?" I heard someone shout. I turned around, and saw someone running towards me. He looked at me. "Judging by the clothes you're wearing, seems like you ARE a newcomer. Geez, why are so many coming at this time? Anyway, let me bring you to the beginner's training centre." He started walking. I followed closely. We went in between many buildings, I tried to remember the order, but after the fifth building I forgot everything. I saw many people along the way. Finally we arrived there, and he signalled for me to go in. I waited, expecting him to go in first. He stood there waiting. "Look, I can't go in. I'm not a beginner anymore. Go on." So I went in.
When I entered through the double doors, the girl at the counter looked up. "Hello, I take it you have just arrived in Audition Town. Please come over here to verify who you are." I went to the counter. She asked me some questions, my name and other stuff. Then she called, "Petra! Another one is here!" As I wondered who Petra was, another girl came from a door. I stared at her and almost fell. Damn, was she beautiful. Her long white dress looked as if it was glowing.
"Sorry if this dress hurts your eyes too much, I just got married, and my husband insists that I continue wearing this."
"Uhh, it's okay..." I stammered. She handed me a white shirt and a pair of white jeans. "Wear this." I didn't like the idea of wearing that.
"Must I? How come those people that I saw outside are wearing such funky clothes?" "They bought them."
"Then can I wear what I am wearing now?"
"No, outside clothes are not allowed here. If you want nicer clothes, go earn some neds and buy some."
"What the hell are neds?"
"It's the currency here."
"Where can I earn some?"
"By playing games."
So this place wasn't as heavenly as I thought it to be. I suddenly regretted coming.
I came out of the dressing room. Another person was in the room. "This is your trainer for the next few hours." Petra said. "He'll be the one teaching you the basics of dancing here."
"Hey, name's Ben." He held out his hand. I shook it.
"Mine's –ICE_CrEaM-. You can just call me Cream."
He led the way to another room. This room was quite small. "I will be teaching you the basics of dancing here." The floor was nicely carpeted, and a huge screen was on one wall.
"That screen is the Dance Screen. It's used for every game." he told me.
"How does it work?"
"Well, see the line of circles on the screen? Each circle has a symbol in it. Each symbol represents how and which part of your body you should move. They are many different kinds of circles inside, and you need to follow that order. There is a sensor that will see if you did it correctly. You also need to complete the whole set within 4 beats of the song. The speed of the beats will be shown by the speed the circles pulsate by. The closer you dance to the beat, the more points you get. There are also different ranks depending on how close you dance to the beat, Perfect being the best, followed by great, cool, bad and miss."
"But there are so many! How am I supposed to remember which symbol represents which? And how am I supposed to do it so fast? And in the correct beat?"
"You will need to memorize them, and practice."
"And what if I don't dance correctly within the time?"
"Then you don't get any points and cannot dance for the next move." This was no better than school, I thought bitterly.
He taught me for about an hour, making me practice again and again, and then introduced me to something new. The one line of circles suddenly became 2 lines, each with different symbols in the circles.
"Can you guess what to do now?"
I made a wild guess. "Uhhh...do both lines at the same time?"
"Yes. You have to do that. But this is one of the simpler types, sometimes you may have to do 6 lines at the same time. But these are mostly for breakdance, but don't worry for now, you won't learn breakdancing for a long time. Try this 2-line combination."
I tried, but failed. Tried again, and failed. Man, this was harder than I thought. After what seemed to be a few hundred tries, I managed to complete it with difficulty.
"Now imagine 6 lines. Can you do it?"
"Obviously not," I panted, "and no way I'm going to try it."
"Well, okay. After every game you'll get some exp, and this helps you to level up. At level 6 onwards you need to take a license to pass on to the next level."
"What is a license?"
"It's a test."
"Ok, thanks. May I go?"
"Wait. Take this." He put a handphone-shaped gadget in my hand, "This will tell you all you need to know about Audition Town."
I walked out of the building. Looked around. Now how was I supposed to get out? I was lost. I tried approaching some higher-leveled people, but they kept avoiding me. Well, might as well take some pictures for Mocha now, I thought. So I walked randomly around Audition Town, trying to find a way out, and took pictures of interesting things at the same time. I caught a glimpse of the wide, open area when I entered Audition Town, and felt relieved. It was already 6.30 p.m, and I had to be home by 7 for dinner.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So how was it?" Mocha asked.
"Really bad. I didn't expect that I needed to actually memorize stuff."
"What kind of stuff?"
"Here, let me tell you." I told her everything that Ben had taught me. She listened attentively the whole time.
"Wow. Sure seems like hard work."
"You bet it is. Now I'm having doubts that I can become a Dance Master." She looked at me strangely. Then suddenly she said, "So, did you take any photos for me?"
"Sure did. Here." I tossed my camera to her.
