First off, let me say I'm not really good about covering things. But I'll try my best.

This is how I saw DANCE! Online when I first played it.

When I entered, I clicked dance lessons to learn more about this game. (Never do the tutorial btw, it's hell) Now, just let me say this...

This game has the worst controls I have ever seen.

Okay, so you use the Up Arrow for Up, the Right Arrow for Right, the A Button for left and the S button for down.

Wtf. Why can't it just be all of the arrow keys!? Luckily, you CAN change this, but I haven't found a decent control scheme yet. All four arrow keys can get a little crowded because...

This game is a blantant rip-off of DDR. You can even hook up a dance pad.

Okay, so I went into a room, and you can walk around. As fun as it may sound, it's not. It can get really laggy.

So, the game starts. Just my luck, someone does the fastest (and worst) song. I missed all of them because THE CONTROLS ARE SO DAMN LAGGY! It takes about 5 seconds for it to respond.

So, everyone who looks the same (the guys look like that one guy from Friends and the girls look anorexic) was dancing, but me. How did they do it? I don't know! I haven't gotten these controls to work properly.

So I exited and went to another room. COUPLES. It's pretty much the same thing, but you're dancing with someone else. Oh, and at the end, you get a 101% DORKY picture with your partner. Oh, and there are weddings on there, too. The invites look like they were stolen from Audi. e_e

So I got fed up and tried to exit mid-game by alt-tabbing. BIG MISTAKE. It still plays and you can never excape except by hard-restarting your computer.

In all, don't play it. Unless you're bored. But it still sucks.

PS - The tutorial has really creepy-sounding NPCs...
Yes, I mean REAL, HUMAN voices...

If you want me to cover something else, just ask. I'll try my best.
This is why u NEVER EVER EVERRR touch a Maylasian / Chinese game and try to "Americanize" it, cuz this is EXACTLY what happens -__-

As for the default control scheme, it kinda makes sense, sadly, I know players who do D or A for left, F or S for down, J or ; for up, and K or ' for right (don't ask it's kinda going in a different direction away from Dance! heheh but I'm SURE my good friend Raian could tell u the rest since he's more into the whole "spread-keyboarding" style of DDR than I am.

"REDEEHHH, STAT DA GEEHHM"
Haha I tried that game and came to the same conclusion you did, that it sucks.

I used ASDF for controls but I'm a weird little child XD

About the dancing thing, as far as I can tell, your character will only dance for the whole song when you don't miss at all. xD So that's why yours wasn't dancing, it was just too laggy for you to have a chance.

But yeah, like you said, the voices annoyed the crap out of me, as well as when you typed "hi" in lobby your characters would say "Hi!" in this annoying high-pitched voice. And of course you had the people who thought it was fun to spam that xD
I don't like the controls because I have problems with operating both hands at once.

That's why I like Audi, I type in all the arrows with my right hand and THEN press Ctrl with my left.
Well, maybe that's why I'm not so good at Audi...

I'm never playing DANCE! again. If it makes me have to hard-restart my computer because of sizing problems, I'm not doing it.
KongKong is the only exception because it's so addicting.

Acclaim fails, btw.
My dad got me a racing game from them and it gives my Dreamcast a bad name. D:
I sold it to my local resell shop for a snazzy black VMU.

A little off-topic edit : OMG THEY'RE SHOWING SONIC UNDERGROUND WHERE I LIVE.
I must find my WB Channel! I must!
Manicmanicmanicmanic *continues*
i've tried Dance, it was ok and the controls are way easier (for me) to play! i could never play properly with just my right hand on DDR..>_>;;

but it still sucks! got addicted for like a few mins...then bam! uninstalled and deleted so i wont see that stipid icon again.

Acclaim fails except for Bots which was good for a short time but it still fails!
well u cant hate Acclaim for all their games. 9Dragons was the best and prolly the onli decent game they have O_o

@Stem - nice way of summing it up =)
@GN - ..............no xD the guy who owns that voice must die~!!
@Steph - Ur not weird, i had the same controls when i played SDO (yes the malaysian version, no this American PoS knock off).
Personally I'd rather not play DANCE! after it went into open Beta.

In the closed Beta, there was no lag, and I only saw one person threatening to kill himself >_>, also they didn't gouge for money then.

Now, it lags, if you don't want to look like a Hooker who is a fan of Acclaim/ Dork who loves Acclaim. you either have to play for hours a day or Buy Acclaim coins.

and the game used to work well with me using the number pad.
PhoenixIce Wrote:@GN - ..............no xD the guy who owns that voice must die~!!

If u don't remember back in the closed beta SDO days, I replaced that sound file with Audi's startup guy XD
lol ya i rmb u doing that XD it was kinda funny...
The female NPC sounds like someone with a brooklyn accent...but it's too high-pitched to tell. You can hear it in some things she says, though.

I still hate Acclaim. Well, they did get me a VMU...
So I guess they're not THAT bad...
Rolleyes
DANCE! Is a disgarce to all music game.It suck and suck and *censored*.
True that.

Acclaim makes games of every genre, and all of them SUCK.
