sometimes learning things over take time....
Just keep playing... if you enjoy the game it shouldn't matter how good you are or how bad you are...
Just dance your bum off and have a awesome time!!!
you'll learn as you go along...

Yea the only way is to play and you'll be better after some time ^^
Though I have to admit it's pretty hard and when you're losing it makes you feel no good ;P

yea I myself am really horrible, I get in last place all the time and it does it depressing sometimes... but try to make it funny and talk to everyone, makes it all good, thats what I do.. or if u want to win... just do what Phoenix said and play by urself, although might get lonely after awhile...

try playing the game without music then with. It'll help you develop a sense of beat at least thats what I think. Switch alternatively between slow to medium paced songs. then run the fast ones later. Play by yourself to avoid distractions. If you think the movment of camera is distracting hit "f2" till u get the camera angle u want. Also if you want grab someone from the forums who would like to play with u and keep playing eachother =D

No worries.
Tips from my first 2 weeks personal experience:
When you can play songs at 90bpms pretty easily , meaning no misses and can do the finish move, you should start practising songs at 130bpms. At first you might not even get to Level 8, but in 3 or 4 days you will be amazed by your improvement.
After 130 bpms you should go on to songs at 160bpms. Playing the fastest songs helps effectively if you can handle the frustration.
In a nut shell, practise REALLY FAST songs. Dont' worry about misses, just try your best to catch up. Eventually you WILL get better.
As you become confident with most of the songs, you can start to go back to slow songs and work on "perfects".

But won't it be embarrassing when you lose to yourself?

To get better.. just play and play.. it doesnt matter what song your playing as long as its above 120... Why? to ge better all you need is reflexs.. once u got the reflex for songs above 120.. u can get 170 after 1 day of practice.. Now as for songs above 180.. its a whole new story.. not only does it need reflex but also incredible speed.. Some people just cant do it while some could in one try..
